In 1995 caods celebrated their 75th Anniversary and we certainly have come a long way since our inception in 1920. A 75th Anniversary Party was held and a fundraising show called ’75 Glorious Years’ was held at the Cramphorn Theatre in Chelmsford.
caods first production, “H.M.S. Pinafore”, was staged at the Empire Theatre (long since demolished) in Springfield Road and was a great success receiving ecstatic reviews from the local press. Following that first production, the Society went on to stage musicals annually, the event soon becoming one of the highlights of the social calendar. Now we perform two musicals annually at the Civic Theatre Chelmsford and are still receiving amazing reviews for our shows.
