In the court of Queen Elizabeth I a love letter from Sir Walter Raleigh to one of the Queen’s ladies in waiting, Bessie Throckmorton, ends up in the hands of the Queen and provokes her jealousy. When Bessie is imprisoned along with suspected witch Jill-All-Alone they set out on a daring escape to rejoin their loves.
