At the Pontevedro embassy in Paris a ball is in full swing with Hanna Glawari, who has just inherited twenty million francs from her late husband, is a guest. The ambassador is scheming to keep her fortune in the company and so must make sure her next marriage is suitable. However, Hanna’s fortune is a draw for many men. Will she find love again, save her country or continue to be a Merry Widow?
