Set in the Tower of London in the 16th century this dark opera tells the tale of Colonel Fairfax, a dashing young man, who has been sentenced to death as a sorcerer. Phoebe, the Yeoman’s daughter, has lost her heart to him. When Fairfax confides that his greedy cousin, who will claim his lands if he dies unmarried, has had him imprisoned they come up with a plan to have Fairfax marry shortly before his execution. With many twists, turns and a murder how will this dark tale end?
