caods were preparing to put on their next production with correspondence ready to go out to members for a reading of their next production, Virginia, on 19 September 1949. However, the correspondence was withhled from circulation due to the outbreak of war on 3 September 1939. As you can the handwritten addition to the notice this was a shock for the caods Committee.
In April 1940, correspondence for an informal meeting followed by a social event at the Ritz Cinema Ballroom to discuss the future of the Society was arranged. None could know how long the war would continue for and if caods would be able to reform again.
