With heavy hearts caods recently said goodbye to our beloved friend Peter Smith.

Peter joined the Society in 1948 as a dancer before moving onto minor and later leading roles. Peter was one of the founding members of our junior society – Chelmsford Young Generation – in 1968. So many performers (young and not so young) owe to much to Peter for providing them somewhere to perform and shine.

As well as performing, Peter was always artistic and many props, scenery and costumes were created by him for both Societies. He was truly an artist and many shows would have that little sparkle missing without him.

Peter will be dearly missed by everyone in the Society and in the wider community of Chelmsford. Peter was a true gentleman and we know his influence and commitment to both Societies will be missed.

Please find below some items from Peter Smith’s memory box. If you have any memories to share of Peter then please do not hesitate to contact us.
