My Fair Lady
Tuesday 26 February – Saturday 2 March 2019, Civic Theatre Chelmsford
caods are delighted to return to the Civic Theatre to present Lerner and Loewe’s multi-award winning musical, ‘My Fair Lady’. This classic musical quickly became one of the greatest successes of the New York and London stages, and paved the way for the hugely popular film in 1964 staring Audrey Hepburn.
Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, ‘My Fair Lady’ is that rare musical by which all others are measured. The tale of a cockney flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, transformed into an elegant lady by Professor Henry Higgins and the subsequent unexpected effect that she has on his life. It features one of musical theatre’s greatest scores, including ‘’Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?”, “With a Little Bit of Luck”, “The Rain in Spain”, “I Could Have Danced All Night”, “On the Street Where You Live”, “Get Me to the Church on Time” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face”.
